Carl Collier's Obituary
Carl Collier passed away on January 22, 2015 with his wife Judy at his side. He was born in Hobart, Oklahoma on January 28, 1941 to Emaniel and Syble Collier.
When Carl was 2 years old the family moved to California and Carl grew up in Redondo Beach and graduated from Mira Costa High in Manhattan Beach. He loved to surf and built his own wooden surfboard.
People and friends were important to Carl. He could talk to anyone about anything and was a loyal friend who could be counted on when someone needed his help. He was funny, sweet, protective and loved to tease and joke. Carl had an ability to make people feel special and comfortable. You instantly felt the warmth of his personality.
Classic cars were a passion of Carl’s. He was a walking encyclopedia where they were concerned and he owned many cars that are now considered classics. Carl belonged to the Little Guys Street Rods classic car club.
Carl was a very hard worker and loved his job. He established his own business, Carl’s Pool and Spa Service, and he maintained swimming pools and spas for 41 years. Carl had three children, Kathy, Spencer and Ginger.
In 1988 he married the love of his life, Judy Cox. Together they loved to travel, take cruises, and going to yard sales. Carl developed an interest in reupholstering and refinishing antique furniture.
The Joslyn Senior Center was a big part of Carl’s life. He loved going there to talk to the many friends he made at the center. Carl loved jazz, listening to birds sing, dogs, wind chimes, eagles, and going to the coffee shop to talk to friends.
Carl was preceded in death by his parents and grandson Tyler Collier. He is survived by his wife, Judy Cox; his children, Kathy, Spencer and Ginger Collier; grandchildren, Destiney, Kandace and Vincent Collier and sister, Sandra Collier.
