Pastor Bruce R. Clegg Sr's Obituary
Bruce Robert Clegg Sr., a devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather, and faithful servant of God, went home to his Savior on March 26, 2025, in Poway, California, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s.
Born on October 29, 1951, in Nashua, New Hampshire, Bruce was the second of seven children. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert E. Clegg Sr. and Barbara A. (Tebbetts) Clegg and brother, Robert E. Clegg Jr.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 44 years, Kathleen (Tenda) Clegg, whom he endearingly referred to as his “girlfriend". He also leaves behind his children: Bruce (Kiersten) Clegg Jr., Robin (Kevin) Echols, Jennifer (Matthew) Gould, Brandon (Anna) Clegg, Stephanie (Ted) Dawson, and Sara (Joseph) McCalment. He was preceded in death by his cherished daughter, Tamie Clegg Taum.
Bruce was a proud grandfather to Ian, Haley & Aubry Clegg, Britany Dudley, James, Kaleo & Victoria Taum, Justin, Jonathan (Lacey) & Dawson Echols, Emily, Hunter, Olivia & Parker Gould, Novella & Eleanor Clegg, Elsie, Edward & Everly Dawson, Giana, Eve, Joseph, & Samuel McCalment. His grandchildren brought him immense joy, and he poured love, wisdom, and faith into each of their lives.
He also leaves behind sister, Barbara (Skip) Gagnon; brothers: Bud (Laura) Clegg, Keith Clegg, and Kevin (Ann) Clegg; Sister-in-law: Priscilla Clegg and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
Bruce loved his Lord, Jesus Christ, and the powerful Word of God. His passionate study of the word led to him getting his doctorate in Christian Counseling in 1998. It seemed that the truth of God's Word was always on the tip of his tongue and rooted in nearly every conversation. Bruce dedicated his life to ministry and helping others as both a pastor and counselor. He was an Associate Pastor at Living Way church for 18 years. He then started Christian Counseling Hope Center, a non-profit, so he could continue to help all in need. He had a genuine love for people and spent his life offering guidance, comfort, and encouragement to those around him.
He enjoyed long distance motorcycle riding, singing, and playing the guitar and had a killer Elvis impression. He also enjoyed traveling, including going on a mission trip to Ghana.
Bruce will be remembered for his gentle spirit, unwavering faith, and deep commitment to lifting others up. His wisdom, warmth, and compassion will be dearly missed by all who knew him. We see his legacy that lives on in his children and grandchildren because of his Godly example.
We cling to the hope of eternity because of Jesus' finished work on the Cross, which Bruce believed in with his whole heart. We believe we will be reunited with him in eternity. Until then, he will be greatly missed.
The Celebration of Bruce’s life will be held at Living Way Church in Poway, CA on Sunday April 27th at 2:30. The family would like to express their extreme gratitude to those that donated, sent meals, sent cards, sent texts, and visited. Your love and support mean so much to us all.
