Abernathy Jr. Sister-In-Laws: Afrances Swain of Boston, Mass, Lurene Box of Nashville, TN, Carol Abernathy and Lucille Abernathy of Detroit, MI Brothers: Andrew Swain and Cleveland Swain of Boston, Mass and Brother-in-Law: William Abernathy of Detroit, MI Bettye attended Boston University Hospital School of Nursing and Boston Pediatics School of Nursing. She attended Palomar College where she studied Nursing Concepts, Pharmacology, Psychology, Sociology, and Personal Management. Bettye worked for the Visiting Nurses Association of San Diego County for 15 years, Redwood Terrace Health Care for 5 years, and the Veteran's Hospital in La Jolla for 1 year. She was President of Marlboro, Massachusetts Women's Club; Employee of the Year Donations in Bettye's memory can be made to:
