Betty Nagtalon's Obituary
Betty Anne Nagtalon, 78, passed away peacefully at home on March 2, 2026, after a courageous nine-month battle with cancer. She was surrounded by her loving husband and six children as she entered eternal rest.
Betty was born on April 22, 1947, in Escondido, California, to Fermin and Carmen Espinosa. She was raised alongside her siblings - the late Jean (late Robert), Fermin (late Mary), Mickie (Don), Ruben (Rosie), and Mark (Sue), in a home deeply rooted in faith and family.
Those early foundations shaped the woman she became. Steady in faith, strong in character, and generous in love. She attended St. Mary's Catholic School in Escondido and later The Academy of the Little Flower, now part of the San Luis Rey Mission. After high school, her deep devotion led her to spend nearly two years discerning religious life at the Precious Blood Convent in Dayton, Ohio.
Though her vocation ultimately led her home, her faith remained the guiding light of her life. Upon returning to Escondido, she reunited with the love of her life, Dick Nagtalon. They were married on July 18, 1970, and shared 55 years of devoted marriage built on faith, partnership, and enduring love.
Betty devoted her life wholeheartedly to her family. She was known for her kindness, honesty, and gentle, non-judgmental spirit. She welcomed others with warmth, listened without criticism, and loved without condition. A loving wife, devoted mother, and proud grandmother, she was deeply involved in the lives of her children and grandchildren - offering steady guidance, quiet strength, and constant encouragement.
Her presence was a source of comfort, wisdom, and grace to all who knew her. She is survived by her beloved husband, Dick, and their six children: Rich (Lorena), Michelle (Gerald), Felice, Angie (Ian), Michael, and Joseph (Marie). She was a cherished grandmother to Christian, William, Andrew, Victoria (Chris), Angel, Angie, Branden, Noah, Kaleb, Jon, Ben, Abe, and one precious grandchild on the way.
Betty will be remembered for her unwavering faith, compassionate heart, and the unconditional love she so freely gave. Though she will be deeply missed, her family finds peace in knowing she is now resting in the arms of the Lord she faithfully served throughout her life.
The Nagtalon family would like to extend our deepest and most heartfelt gratitude to all who have walked alongside us during this difficult time. Your prayers, meals, messages, visits, and countless acts of kindness have carried us in ways we cannot fully express. The love and support you have shown our family have been a true reflection of the compassion Betty so freely gave to others throughout her life.
We are profoundly grateful for each and every one of you.
