Bettie Messer Heldring's Obituary
Born in December 1918, Bettie grew up in Detroit, Bettie grew up in Detroit, MI and Pittsfield, MA during the Great Depression.
Bettie married "Al" Messer and started her family during World War II in Washington DC. She then lived in Detroit, Chicago, and St. Louis before settling in Kansas City, MO where she and Al raised her two sons with an intense love and old fashioned values.
Retiring in 1967, they moved to Escondido, CA. Beginning in 1954, she pursued her avocation playing bridge, becoming a Life Master many times over and playing three times weekly up to the end. Suffering a divorce, she became a commercial realtor and married her second husband John Heldring.
She is survived by her two sons, Alan and Tim; her two daughters-in-law, Mary and Rosie; and her grandson, Ethan.
