Benjamin Magante Jr.'s Obituary
Benny Magante, age 64, crossed over to the spirit world on Sunday, March 29th.
Benny was a tribal member of the La Jolla Indian Reservation here in Southern California and lived here his whole life. Growing up in Northern and Southern California his dad moved them around to places like Sacramento, San Francisco, and Oakland and he was a lifelong Oakland Raiders football fan.
Benny worked for the Native American community in their All Mission Indian Housing Authority building HUD homes as an electrician. He would travel to different reservations working on HUD homes. When Indian gaming became legal, Benny joined the slot technician team and help setup Barona's casino floor in Lakeside, California and later stayed there to run the slots department there as a shift manager.
Benny loved to go fishing with friends from work and elsewhere on his time off and loved the Colorado River, Lake Havasu, Lake Mead and would frequent the California/Arizona river every summer with his boats and jetskis as much as he could. He was also a drummer in a classic rock band called Arrowhead and put out a CD and played gigs locally.
Benny is survived by his son Ben and daughters Danielle, Cathenia, Shannon, Tymicka and grandkids.
