Audrey LaVerne Kolsky's Obituary
RANCHO BERNARDO—Audrey (96) was a loving wife, mother, grandma and great-grandma. She cared deeply for her family and friends and greatly enjoyed helping others, asking what she could do even as Alzheimer’s was taking her away. She was born in Sublette, Kansas. She worked as a typist/stenographer there before attending Kansas State for two years majoring in home economics. She married Gerald Kolsky, also a K-State student on May 19, 1943—his birthday—in Albion, Michigan. They moved from Kansas to California in 1952 and were married for 67 years before his death. They loved to travel, visiting Kansas often, the 50 states and abroad.
After raising four children, Audrey worked as a secretary at Famous Ramona Water from 1976 to 1982. She has been a member of the First United Methodist Church (FUMC) of Escondido since 1960, was a leader in the United Methodist Women, volunteered at the Interfaith Community Services and served in many other ways. She enjoyed piano, square dancing, playing cards and Elderhostel and Oasis classes.
Our wonderful, welcoming, caring Mom/Grandma will be especially missed by her children; Sandra (Douglas) Lawrence, Larry and Steve Kolsky and grandchildren; Karen (Cesar) Quiros and Lori Lawrence. She delighted in her young great-grandsons; Tomás and Lucas Quiros. She is now reunited with her husband and daughter, Linda Kolsky.
There will be a graveside service at Dearborn Memorial Park in Poway on October 7 at 1:00PM and a reception following in the Norte Lounge at Casa de las Campanas. Donations in her memory may be made to the FUMC of Escondido, the Elizabeth Hospice or your favorite charity.
