Arthur James Welmas' Obituary
Mr. Welmas was preceded in death by his son, John Welmas, in 2003.
He is survived by his wife of 21 years, Elma Welmas of Rincon; son Virgil Osuna ; daughters Treasure Welmas, Tamara Welmas, Elisa Welmas, Prairie Welmas and Linda Golding (Al); brother Joe Benetiz; 16 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II. He was born on the Los Coyotes Indian Reservation, he lived in Rincon for 76 years. He was a retired tribal chairman of the Cabazon Band of Mission Indians. He founded Indian gaming in California. He enjoyed fishing cruising, drinking, telling stories
