Arthur Wyatt Woods' Obituary
Arthur Wyatt Woods born March 8, 1918 in Milton, Oregon and passed away on August 1, 2022 at the age of 104, at Meadowbrook Christian Retirement Community in Escondido, California. He was a 64 Year Resident of Escondido, CA.
He is preceded in death by his Wife Alma Mae (1998 - married 55 Years) and second Wife Margaret (2010 – married 10 Years). He is survived by his Daughter Linda Woods Beerbower (Riley) and Son Gary A. Woods (Kym). Also Grandchildren Cindy Gill, Karen Blevins, Lawrence Beerbower, James Beerbower (Sherry), Heather Costa (Cory) and Trevor Woods (Laura). Also 14 Great Grand-children, 27 Great-Great Grand-Children and 1 Great-Great-Great Grandchild totaling a Family Legacy of 52 Off-Spring.
Art was raised in the rural Omak Area of Washington State where He attended School and worked as a Young Man on Cattle Ranches and Farms before enlisting in the U.S. Navy in Seattle, Washington.
He served in the U.S. Navy from 1941 to July 1961 when He retired at NAS Miramar, CA as a Chief Petty Officer. His Overseas Duty Stations included Japan, Hawaii, Philippine Islands and in the Aleutian Islands with a PBY Squadron.
He then worked Civil Service at NAS North Island, CA for another 10 years, retiring again in 1972.
In the following years He operated a successful small Business “Art’s Tool Repair” from his Home Shop, where he received, repaired and delivered Electric Construction Tools for many local Businesses from Escondido to Carlsbad.
Art was very active in Boy Scouts of America with his Son Gary in Troop 649 – Escondido CA…and for many years beyond as an Adult Leader and Advisor.
Art was also a long time Member of the Fleet Reserve Association (FRA), Escondido Elks Lodge # 1687, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1513 - Escondido (VFW), Palomar Chapter of the National Active and Retired Federal Employees (NARFE) and a 60+ Year Member of Emmanuel Faith Community Church in Escondido, CA (EFCC).
