Antoine Totri's Obituary
Antoine “Tony” Matta Totri
1940 - 2023
Antoine “Tony” Matta Totri, 83, peacefully passed away on Sunday,
May 7, 2023. Tony was an early riser making it very fitting for him to fly into the Heavens early Sunday morning with family by his side.
Tony was born April 20, 1940, in Haifa, Palestine to Matta and Nazha Totri. In 1966 he emigrated to Canada and in 1975 came to the United States where he was an entrepreneur and successful business owner throughout his lifetime.
It brought Tony the most joy working around his property and being outdoors. He always took great pride in his work, whether it was at his place of business over the course of many decades or where he called home for nearly forty years. Tony always had a real passion for gardening and tending to his plants. If you ever had the privilege of visiting Tony at his home, sharing the labor of his fruits with you would put a grand smile on his face each and every time. He also enjoyed cooking, playing his guitar and attending Bible Study.
Those left to cherish his memory include his three sons, Rawy (Amy), John (Candace), and Ehab, grandsons Anthony, Nicholas, and Johnny, brothers, Edward (Siham), George, Souheil (Maha), Jule (Doris), sister, Leila (Abdalla) Joubran, Carmen and many dear friends.
He is proceeded in death by a daughter, son, loving mother, father, and older brother Michael (Therese) Totri. Tony will be laid to rest back “home” beside his mother, father, and brother in Nazareth, Israel.
Tony will forever be remembered and we will continue to find peace in knowing the Bible says, “Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me. My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.”
John 14:1-3
The funeral service will be held at St Mary Catholic Church (1170 S Broadway in Escondido), May 26, 2023 beginning at 10:00AM.
