Anna Mae Hoving's Obituary
Anna Mae Boomsma was born on December 31, 1939 at home on a small farm on the Southside of Chicago, Illinois. She was the youngest of four children born to Anna (DeVries) Boomsma and Samuel Boomsma.
She grew up on the farm and attended high school nearby as well as being active in her beloved local Reformed Church. She met and then married, Robert Lee Hoving, at that church on June 23, 1961. After marriage, she worked in downtown Chicago for the Standard Oil Company, commuting daily by train. Bob worked on the southside of Chicago in a variety of jobs including fireman.
Bob and Ann had two children, Kenneth Alan Hoving in 1962 and Patricia Lynn Hoving (Frank) in 1966.
In 1969, the family moved cross country and settled in Escondido, CA, where they lived together until Ann passed away on July 30, 2022, succumbing to a series of strokes.
The Hoving’s faithfully attended the local Community Reformed Church from 1969 until now. Ann was very active in her church, always looking for ways to serve. These included singing in the choir, wedding coordinator, volunteer rummage sales, and filling in as assistant administrator to the Pastor. She loved music, family, church activities, traveling, fishing, and waterskiing. She last waterskied on Lake Powell at age 75! Bob and Ann own a second home at Lake Powell and Ann worked tirelessly to turn it into a home away from home, enjoyed by the whole family. Throughout their married life together, Bob and Ann enjoyed traveling extensively in their motorhome and often were found boating and fishing with friends they met along the way.
Ann was a devoted wife, mother, and homemaker and served her family faithfully throughout her life.
Her favorite Christian hymns include One Day, It is well with my soul, Great is thy faithfulness, Oh happy day when Jesus comes, and I will fly away, which we know she certainly did.
Her favorite Bible verse, Deuteronomy 31:8: “The Lord Himself goes before you and will be with you; He will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.”
Anna Mae Hoving lived a simple, devoted life dedicated to her faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and to her family. Never pretentious, always with a smile on her face and a happy greeting to everyone she met.
She died in her sleep and passed on to heaven peacefully and with the assurance of eternal life with our Lord and Savior.
She is survived by her sister, Margaret Newtaut, Robert her husband of 61 years, both her children, Ken and his wife Cathy Hoving and Patty and her husband Steve Frank. Also, by five grandchildren, Milana Hoving, Jake Frank, Aimee Frank, Michael Hoving, and Jesse Frank and his wife, Gabrielle
