Alice Evelyn Inga's Obituary
Alice Evelyn Inga, 92, of Escondido, California, passed away on September 20, 2015 of natural causes in Escondido, California.
Alice was born in Escondido on August 19, 1923. She graduated from Escondido High School in 1941, and from Santa Ana Junior College in 1943. After graduating from junior college, she joined her fiancé, Richard, in Denver where he was stationed in the U.S. Army, and they were married in Denver on July 2, 1943.
Upon Richard’s discharge from the Army, Alice and Richard moved back to Escondido, and have made Escondido their home ever since. They purchased eight acres of property on Rock Springs Road and raised four children at that property. Richard started his own electric motor and pump repair business, which he and Alice owned and operated until they retired. Alice served as the bookkeeper and secretary for the business, while also serving as a full-time mom.
Alice was actively involved in all of her children’s sports teams and activities, and as an accomplished pianist, she encouraged her children to learn music and play a variety of instruments. She was an active member of the San Marcos High School Booster’s Club, as well as an avid bowler, having been awarded a trophy for a 225 game while playing in the Booster League. She also enjoyed playing tennis, badminton, and bocce ball.
After retirement, Alice and Richard enjoyed traveling the country in their motor home, where they made many life-long friends along the way. When they weren’t traveling, Alice spent much of her time in retirement working to complete her family’s genealogical history, and made several trips to Salt Lake City to research the genealogy archives in Salt Lake. On July 2, 2015, Alice and Richard celebrated their 72nd wedding anniversary.
Alice’s life was filled with many accomplishments, but none more important than being a loving wife and mother. She will be missed by everyone who had the good fortune to know her. She is survived by her husband, Richard; her son, Richard of Santa Clarita, CA; and her daughter, Joanne, of North Las Vegas, NV. She was predeceased by her daughter, Janis, and her son, Robert. She is also survived by ten grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren.
A memorial service to honor and celebrate Alice’s life will be held at the First United Methodist Church, 341 S. Kalmia Street, Escondido, CA on Saturday, October 3, 2015 at 2:00 pm.
