Alice Hester's Obituary
Alice Hester, age 100, passed away Tuesday December 26, 2017, in Escondido. She was born September 19, 1917, in Mt. Vernon, IL, the daughter of Kenneth and Zora (McLaughlin) Hodge. She married Melvin Hester June 12, 1937, in Mt. Vernon. He preceded her in death November 14, 1988.
She is survived by her loving family including daughters Sue Hogue and Sandra Wheeland and her husband Bob whom she loved like a son. She was known affectionately to her grandchildren as Grammy. They include three grandsons; Troy Hogue and wife Tammy, Darin Wheeland, Alan Wheeland and wife Dina; one granddaughter Lynne Jannise and husband Gary, all of Escondido; three great grandsons; Ryan Hogue, Alex Pulvers and Keegan Wheeland; four great-granddaughters; Stephanie Pulvers and fiancé Cody Rosentrater, Mandy Witt and husband Chris, Kimberlee Mitchell and husband Kent, and Kristi Mankhey; one great great-granddaughter Kaylee Kinney; and three great great-grandsons; Ronnie Witt, Troy Witt and Domenic Mitchell.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers and one sister.
