Aino Caroline (Karna) McDonald's Obituary
Aino is survived by her duaghters, Ann C. McDonald and Ida J. Raduc. Beloved daughter, Laura B. Mcdonald, Preceded her in death on June 21, 2001. Also survived by her grandchildren, Jessica Ann Raduc, Lauren Marie Raduc, and Charlotte Rachel McDonald; and her great-grandchild, Mariah Anna McDonald. She is also survived by Oiva John Karna, Jr., James Timothy Karna anad Elizabeth Caroline Karna, and their families; and members of the Karna and Tiainen families in Finland. She kept long-lasting childhood friendships, including the late Margaret "Scotty" Monson and Florence Holst. A resident of Escondido CA for 38 years, Aino was born on September 10, 1923 in Greenwich, Conn., to her loving parents, John Karna and Ida (Sivonen) Karna, both immigrants from Finland in the early 1900s. She lived in the Village of Port Chester, NY, wi Aino attended public schools until her graduation from Port Chester High School at the young age of 16. While waiting to become 18 years old in order to go to nursing school, her mother suggested that she go to Barnard College, New York, NY which she did Aino was married in 1947 to Donald P. McDonald, also of Port Chester, NY who preceded her in death in 1987. "Marrying your father was the best thing I ever did," she would say to her family.
