Agnes Li-May Huang's Obituary
Agnes Li-May Huang
Oct. 20, 1937 – Dec. 25, 2024
Poway, CA
Agnes Li-May Tsai was born in 1937 in Taitung, Taiwan, the second daughter to Mi-Tsu Tsai and first daughter to Gui-Mei (neé Chang) Tsai, and she is the older sister to two sisters and three brothers. She graduated from high school in 1954 after which she attended Nursing School in Taiwan and worked as a registered nurse (RN) for several years afterwards.
In the late nineteen-fifties she immigrated from Taiwan to America and settled in Philadelphia. There she met Chien Huang, who had also immigrated from China in 1957. After a short court-ship, they were married in 1962, raising their family of two boys in and around Philadelphia and nearby Stamford, Connecticut. In 1969 the four of them moved from the East Coast to the San Francisco Bay Area where she continued to work as an RN at a hospital in San Jose. In 1974 the Huang family once again moved from Cupertino to San Diego, CA where Agnes immediately started studying Real Estate. Armed with a broker’s license, she spent many more years in her new career of real estate & property management.
Finally in 1988 the family moved to Poway, where she continued in property management before handing down the business to her sons.
Agnes was always a nurturing mother to her two sons & a constant companion to her husband. Agnes was preceded in death by her half-sister, her parents Gui-Mei and Mi-Tsu and by her husband Chien. She is survived by her grand-daughter Allison Huang, children Frederick and Lewis Huang, two sisters Man-Sha (Lin) and Li-Jong (Lu), three brothers Chi-Dong, Chi-Ping and Chi-Lien Tsai, as well as nieces and nephews.
Agnes was very kind and devoted to her siblings, was very kind to others, and was always very concerned about the welfare of her friends and neighbors, especially the neighbors in Poway. In her early years in Taiwan she delivered many newborn babies as a midwife.
Above all Agnes was a woman of great faith. During the last few years of her life she greatly enjoyed attending the Living Way Church in Poway with her son, to whom she taught the Christian faith when he was a toddler. During her final days she was greatly mourned by her siblings and grand-daughter and especially by her two sons. Agnes, along with her husband Chien, was always, is always, and will always be my True Best Friend.
