Paul Kelvin Mulcahy
August 7, 1941 - April 6, 2022
Paul Kelvin Mulcahy died peacefully on 4/6/22 after a long battle with AML Leukemia. He was born 8/7/41 and was 80 at his passing. He was a former resident of Mahwah and Northern NJ and was currently residing in Escondido, CA. He is survived by his wife, Sarah, and 5 sons (Matt, Evan, Brad, Max and Jake), his sister Pat, brother Randy, and his Dator clan of special cousins. He was an accomplished athlete at Ramsey High School in 1959, and was named to his high school all NBIL Football team in 1958 and went to NJ State Track finals in the 100 and 200 sprints in 1959. He continued his football skills journey at Bucknell as a tight end, then played for the Marine Corps during his years of service. Paul had a Graduate Degree from American International College in Springfield, MA. His life was a great adventure from South America, Africa, the Caribbean, South Korea, Japan, and Taiwan and was filled with great loves, tragedies and disappointments. His race car won the Daytona 500 in 1975; he skydived, flew an airplane solo once, motocross racer, did full contact fighting and krav maga in his 60’s, and a little surfing. He owned numerous businesses from retail stores, roller skating rinks, real estate offices and a manufacturing company. He was forever the optimist and did not dwell in the past. He lived in shorts and sandals, loved the beach, gym regularly, and took care of his orange trees and animals (hummingbirds, turtles, chickens, dogs, fish, lizard, owls and rabbits). He loved to travel, movies, lived by “once a friend, always a friend” motto, was a devoted Giants fan, and loved the Mighty Mighty Boss Tones. In his final years he enjoyed the excitement of fractional race horse ownership with his buddies. He was fun, passionate, affectionate and a great kisser, and everyone who knew him, loved him. Funeral services will be held at the Church of Resurrection in Escondido, CA on 4/22/22 at 10:30am, followed by a full veteran’s military honors burial.
