Katherine "Kathy" Perkett

October 9, 1938 - May 1, 2019

After battling a serious case of pneumonia for the past two months, Katherine “Kathy” Perkett passed away peacefully in her sleep on May 1, 2019. Kathy and her twin sister, Marcia, were born in Cleveland, Ohio on October 9, 1938 to Helen Pitkins and Fred Small. They spent several of their younger years being raised by Don and Olive Maxwell before being reunited with her mother and step-father, Rollin M. Shaw. After moving to Carlsbad in 1949 and graduating from Oceanside High School in 1957, she married her high school sweetheart Robert “Bob” Perkett. In their 61 years of marriage, Bob and Kathy raised three sons, Ron (Robyn, Tina), Doug (Virginia) and Mike (Marci). They also ran a successful construction business together for 31 years and have traveled extensively across country in their RV. Kathy also was an avid gardener and enjoyed crafts and sewing. She loved hosting family gatherings at the homes they designed and built themselves and spending time with their precious puppy, Calle. Kathy adored her 8 grandchildren (Brad, Eric, Ashley, Emily, Ridge, Landon, Carlyn and Chloe) as well as her 3 great grandkids (Marek, Sterling and Theo). Family and friends are invited to a Celebration of Life on May 18th beginning at 2:00 pm in the community center at Escondido RV Resort located at 1740 Seven Oakes Rd in Escondido. Parking available on Seven Oakes Rd only.
