July 11, 1923 - April 18, 2017
Dorothy Lee Etem, 93, returned to her heavenly home on April 18, 2017. As she aged, she was always surrounded by her family and loved each one of them dearly. She passed peacefully at her home. Dorothy was born to Bert and Sarah Howard, a mechanic and a homemaker respectively, at home in Escondido, CA on July 11, 1923. Dorothy was predeceased by her brother, Edgar Howard, her sisters, Leona Davies and Rosemary Bumann. Dorothy was blessed with a large and loving family. She was courted by Frank Joseph Etem, and eventually married him on June 22, 1941. They opened Frank’s Welding Service in Escondido in July, 1944. Dorothy helped raise her three children ~ Linda, James, and Ann ~ with patience, a gentle hand, and teaching them the love for the Lord. Dorothy and Frank often took the children on long family trips to see the natural beauty of the United States and Canada. From the very beginning, Dorothy and Frank dedicated their children to God and encouraged them to explore the beauty of the gospels. Dorothy was predeceased by her beloved Frank on September 23, 1999. Dorothy is survived by her children ~ James (Sue) Etem, Linda Yoder, and Ann (Al) Maioriello; her grandchildren ~ Cheri and Adam, Shelley, LeAyn and Bruce, Scott and Penny, Jolene and Aaron, and Mandy, as well as eight great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be held at Oak Hill Cemetery on Friday, April 28, 2017 at 11:00 AM. Pastor Greg Lane will officiate the service. Dorothy is dearly missed by her loved ones, who celebrate the fact that she is at peace with Jesus, her Savior, who gently called her Home.
