Barbara Blake Abraham
May 11, 1930 - October 11, 2016
Barbara Blake Abraham May 11, 1930 to October 11, 2016 Barbara was born in Los Angeles in 1930. She is survived by her sons James (Rhonda) and Pete, her daughters Theresa (Mike) and Barbara (Tim), and her five grandchildren (Crystal, Dylan, Elizabeth, Andrew, and James). Barbara received her BA in sociology from the University of Southern California in 1952 and was a lifelong member of the Chi Omega Fraternity. She started her career in San Diego working for Convair until she met and married Jim Abraham, the love of her life, in 1959. She spent the next 50 plus years working as a homemaker while traveling the world as the spouse of a career Marine Officer until they retired in San Diego. She enjoyed traveling and cruising around the world with Jim, and later in life with family and friends. Her charitable work included volunteering in several organizations including Navy Relief, Marine Corps Wives Clubs, and Caridad International. She loved family gatherings, holidays, birthdays, meeting friends for lunch, and of course cheering on the USC Trojans. Fight On! Barbara was an amazing person who brought humor, insight and thoughtfulness to everything she did and everyone she met. Her indomitable spirit gave her the strength to fight for what she believed in and overcome several health issues later in her life. Her legacy of love will be remembered and carried on through the many lives she touched. Memorial services will be held on October 21, 2016 at the Church of St. Timothy in Escondido at 10am with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations to the USO SD are greatly appreciated.
