He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Winna of Escondido, CA; daughters, Linda Wilhelm Miller (Jeff), and Melissa Kay Wilhelm (Jim); a nephew, Tom Wilhelm (Missey); six grandchildren, Kim Bowder, Kris Englehardt, Kiersten Betschel, Brandy Miller, Lucas Ryan, and Michael McKee; and six great-grandchildren, Ashylnn, Eric, Dalton, Delaney, Jayden and Cody. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Jean Ann Fehlber and her husband Tom. |
He served in the U.S. Marine Corp during WWII including the battle of Iwo Jima where he was wounded and received the Purple Heart. |
Lou married Winna Judd, his high school sweetheart, on September 20, 1941. They lived in St. Louis, MO for many years before moving to Escondido in 1982. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge since 1952, a Shriner for more than 25 years, was active in the DAV since 2003, and was a member of VFW Post #8027. |
Lou enjoyed golf (he was a scratch golfer for many years), cards, traveling with his wife and spending time with family and friends. |
