Kathryn is survived by daughters, Carolyn Wynne, Marian Aste, Margaret Aste, Kathleen Aste, and Barbara Aste; sons, William Aste Jr., Robert Aste, George Aste, and James Aste; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and extended family. She was preceded in death by her husband Bill Aste in 2006.

Kay married William J. Aste on March 12, 1941. She lived much of her life in Chicago before moving to Escondido in 1973, when she and her husband purchased the Fireside Restaurant, which they operated for many years.

Kathryn earned a Master's degree in Pastoral Studies from Loyola University New Orleans in 1988. She was active in St. Timothy's Catholic Parish in Escondido, Interfaith Community Services in Escondido and the American Association of University Women (AAUW)

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made in Mrs. Aste's name to either Interfaith Community Services. (interfaithservices.org) or AAUW Foundation (aauw.org).
