He is survived by his wife, Shirley; brother, Howard Harper; aunt, Ruth Stranger and family; cousin, Patrick McGrail and family; and nieces and nephews, Delisa Leeds and children, Labrina Harper-Stratton, (Matt), David Harper (Angie) and children, Debra Liebhauser, Karen Liebhauser (John), Brian Liebhauser (Sue) and Children, and Kevin Liebhauser (Carrie) and children.

He married Shirley Liebhauser on December 26, 1976 in La Jolla. Roy worked for SDG&E for 43 years. Mr. Harper was affiliated with the Cadillac and LaSalle Club of San Diego and sang with the Rancho Bernardo Chorale. He also enjoyed playing the drums and karaoke at large.
