Joel is survived by wife, Sandra (Weed) Foley of 33 years; daughters, LeAnn Grant, Michelle Nelson (Ken); sons, David Thompson and Mark Thompson (Deb); brothers, Richard Foley (Romona) and Thomas Foley (Penny); sister-in-law, Cheryl (Weed) Laney; nine grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. Joel was preceded in death by his parents, Leslie and Pauline (Kessler) Foley; son, Sean Foley; son-in-law, Edwin Grant; and two great-grandchildren. |
Joel was born in Milwaukee, Wisc., and grew up in Minneapolis, Minn. He entered the United State Marine Corps in 1957 and served ten years, ten months and two days, serving in Vietnam. |
Joel graduated from San Diego State University with a B.A. He was a tax preparer/accountant and had offices in both Vista and Escondido. He retired two years ago after 40 plus years. |
Joel's hobbies were "Master" woodworking, collecting Milwaukee Railroad memorabilia and enjoyed restoring their 100 plus year old house in "Old Escondido." |
