Lou is survived by his loving son, William; together with seven brothers and sisters; and over 20 nieces and nephews. His loving wife, Jane, predeceased him by 55 weeks.

Lou was born in Jersey City, New Jersey, the son of simple Italian immigrants. He was one of a family of 11 children. He knew Frank Sinatra while in New Jersey as a young man, and often went to see Sinatra perform when he was part of the Hoboken Four group. Louie served distinguishably as a U.S. Marine. He was wounded during the battle of Guadalcanal and was awarded a Purple Heart medal. He later gained the respect and admiration of his entire company when he saved them from certain death. This occurred when Louie accidentally wounded the company cook in a training exercise. After that, both the meals and the men's morale improved dramatically.

Upon retirement, and with his wife's encouragement, Louie became quite active in many community and Church affairs. He was the main chef for all large scale Bingo dinners and other fund-raising activities at his church. He and his wife were major donors to the Church of the Resurrection and their Social Hall. During this same period, he traveled extensively to Europe and the Western Pacific areas. He toured Eastern Europe when it was under Communist rule, and was always proud to wear his Marine hat and jacket wherever he went. He celebrated his 25th wedding anniversary with a six-week, multi-city tour of New Zealand and Australia.

Louis also was active in his son's Alma Mater, UCLA, and made frequent trips to the UCLA campus and the Rose Bowl. Together with his wife Jane, he arranged for a memorial brick in his family's name, to be permanently displayed at the UCLA Alumni Center. In addition, he became enshrined as a permanent donor with his wife and son, at the John and Nell Wooden Basketball Center. Louie also hosted several Marine-oriented parties for his beloved Third Division. He attended the Third division Marine reunions as he was able to.

In Lieu of flowers, Lou's family is suggesting that donations be made in his memory to "Church of the Resurrection Building Fund," 1445 Conway Dr., Escondido CA 92026. Your prayers and continued support are gratefully acknowledged
