Richard was preceded in death by his wife, Joan N. Hage; and grandson, Ryan S. Rogers. He is survived by his sister, Elaine Fisher (Bill); daughter, Valerie Rogers (Russell); son, Steven Kupstis (Becky); daughter Heidi Montgomery and Chris Donahue; daughter, Wendy Adams and Rod Portelli; grandchildren, Brandon and Ashley Rogers, Terri and Justin Kupstis, Aidan Donahue, and Elizabeth Portelli; and great-grandchildren, McKenzie, Mallory, and Jacob Enriquez, Ryan Rogers and Donovan Menendez.

Richard served in the US Air Force and US Navy where he retired as a Sr. Master Chief. He traveled throughout the US and Europe on the Apache and Cheyenne Helicopters, and was a part of the Cruise Missile Project. He was a proud member of VFW and American Legion, and also a member of the Pontiac, Corvair, and Corvette Clubs. He enjoyed showing his cars where he won many awards.

He was born in Alden, ILL. He lived in Escondido for 39 years.
