She was born and raised in Davenport, Iowa, and moved to Escondido, CA in 1969.

Jean's main hobbies were the organ and the piano. She played the organ for the choir at St. Mary's Catholic Church for a few years. Later, she played the organ at Alhiser-Comer Mortuary for 20 years. She also played duplicate bridge for a second hobby.
