She is survived by her husband, Don of Escondido; son, Donald of San Diego; daughter, Leanne of Rincon Reservation; granddaughter, Stephanie Van Roy of Escondido; and brother John Babcock of Arizona. |
She was born in Minot, North Dakota and when she was 5 years old her family moved to Escondido, CA. Margie, as she was fondly known, attended Central School and graduated from Escondido High School in 1948. She married Don Calac on October 2, 1948 and the newly weds moved to Los Angeles where Don was attending college. The couple returned to Escondido in 1950 where they raised their two children, Donald James Calac, and Leanne (Calac) Aguilar. |
The family attended Emmanuel Faith Community Church and Margie was active for many years in the church nursery ministry as well as housekeeping of the church. She was also very interested in the community affairs of Escondido. Margie was a member of the Grandmother's Club, East End Club, the Historical Society of Escondido, and participated in a variety of other community activities. |
