Mr. Carapia is survived by four sons, Genaro Carapia of Northridge, Martin Carapia of Vista, Arthur Carapia of Escondido, and Maximino Carapia, Jr. of Vista; a daughter, Maria Victoria Carapia of Carlsbad; and four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife of 41 years, Celia Carapia, and a son, Manuel Carapia. |
Maximino Carapia died as a result of a fall suffered August 20 at the Wild Animal Park in Escondido. |
Born May 11, 1920 in Michoacan, Mexico, Mr. Carapia immigrated to the United States in 1945 and was a resident of North County since that time. He proudly became a United States citizen in 1991. Mr. Carapia was a retired construction worker. |
He enjoyed gardening at his Vista home and tending to his many exotic birds. In addition, Mr. Carapia was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying a 12-mile hike in the Sierra Mountains just earlier this month. |
