He is survived by his wife, Dorothy; two sons, Preston and Scott; one step-daughter, Suzann L. Cortez; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one brother, Ray Bankston. |
During WWII, he served in the U.S. Navy, mostly spent in the Philippines. After his discharge, he remained in San Diego. |
Jim was born in Caddo, Texas, moving to Drumright, Okla., where he graduated from high school. He attended Business College in Tulsa, Oklahoma. |
Jim was employed with the Frazee Paints, Inc. for 30 years. In 1965, he moved to Escondido as Manager of the Frazee store located on Juniper Street, moving to the present location in 1971. He retired in 1982. The following year, he volunteered at the Joslyn Senior Center in Escondido. At the Joslyn Center, he was treasurer of the Billiard Club, until his illness in 2004 caused him to resign. Jim was a life member of the El Cajon BPOE #1812 for 52 years. He is a Shriner for 47 years at Al Bahr Temple in San Diego |
