Mrs. Kersten is survived by her husband of 12 years Wayne Kersten; daughters Maurisa LaChusa and Carla LaChusa; brothers Rudy Sandoval (Roberta), Gabriel "Butch" Kitchen (Sonya); sisters Florence LaChusa, Evelyn Miranda-White, Dolores Kitchen, and Gina Peters (Stephen "Stinky"); and one grandson

She lived on the Pauma Valley Indian Reservation all of her life. She was a homemaker.
She worked at the Pauma Casino for four years. She enjoyed cooking, making flour tortillas, reading devotionals, crosswords, animals and spending time with her nieces and nephews.
